Important question here. How do you clean your raw produce? With all of the problems recently with fresh produce and ecoli H157 and salmonella (remember the spinach and sprouts making people sick with ecoli H157?), I'm a bit nervous about going raw.
:( I read that the ecoli was deep WITHIN the spinach that made it nearly impossible to completely clean. This issue is pretty much the only thing keeping me from trying raw.

For those of us with certain food allergies, eating raw is simply impossible. If I eat a raw apple or carrot or peach, cherries, celery and more, my throat closes up and I have an anaphylactic reaction needing an Epi-Pen. Eating raw is just not the answer for everyone.

Hi Sara,
I've posted a few other times on your other blog. You seriously are so inspiring. You are really living life the way I talk about living life. :-) How did you start making all these changes? Was it small steps or did you just dive right in? I feel so refreshed and happy when I am reading your blogs! Thank you.

Hi, we're in! We went raw for a week last May, and already started feeling better. It was hard to maintain though because my husband never felt "full" and it was expensive to buy all the new types of staple foods, and lots of prep for those transitional-type foods. I went all out though, and got a dehydrator which hasn't been used as much as I hoped, and got a VitaMix for Christmas :), so I have to put them to good use. In other words, I have NO excuse! I really liked seeing your sample "menus" for your day... even though I've purchased Alissa Cohen's book and dvds, I still wonder, what do raw foodists eat all day? Anyway, we're excited to try again and to see our health issues start to melt away (along with the additional pounds). I'm going to try and set goals, and post those up on the fridge along with the inspiring bible verse about our bodies being temples for the Holy Spirit- what better motivation than to take care of ourselves?
How much does your toddler still nurse? I'm nursing a 7 month old, and nursed my first baby for 20 months, so I don't plan to quit anytime soon- how might going raw affect my milk supply at first? He's a hungry one too!
Thanks for the challenge, reading your links and about your experience so far has motivated me to try again!

We are doing 50-80 % raw right now. I miss that 100% raw "high," but I just need to get over some humps! (I think they're called excuses.)

My hubby and I are talking about doing this as a team. So we are having a family meeting tonight. How cool is that?

Btw, I was reading your Plenty Mag (Veggie-Oil Voyage) interview from last year, and I have to say that your convictions on simplifying totally resonates with me!

Weird. I was thinking of trying it for a week myself. Truth be told, I am not sold on the benefits of raw food forever, but - much like that doggone lemonade cleanse - never make a decision on something like that until I've tried it myself. So .. I'm in. Fun.

Jaymi...that IS amazing, and yes, I think a God thing! I'm so glad you're in. I'll be emailing you soon.

Kristin...yay! Ani's book is also great, but in a different way than Sarma's. I own both of them now, but I keep going back to Raw Food Real World! Love it.

Welcome to the challenge!
