This morning when Bella and I were making those delicious Apple Hemp Muffins…I realized that I had no applesauce. But I did have a bowl of “almost going bad” apples and a Vita-Mix! πŸ™‚ I peeled and cored them all…threw them in the Vita-Mix and within about 20 seconds, I had delicious homemade applesauce (so much more delicious than any grocery store variety). I LOVE this machine!

There are many of you who have ordered a Vita-Mix from this site lately…and I’d love to hear what your favorite recipe/concoction is. If you’ve been waiting to buy one…now is a great time! With summer approaching, it’s only natural to start a green smoothie addiction! πŸ™‚

I didn’t buy my VitaMix through your site (didn’t know I could, so we got ours locally) but we love it so much, I couldn’t resist saying something.

We stopped buying apple sauce ever since we got VM last summer πŸ™‚ We don’t even peel our apples (organic from Costco) and we don’t core them that often either. Still, perfect apple sauce every time!

It would take me too much time to mention all the things we love to use our blender for. Smoothies are a must here, my son won’t intake his fruits or vegetable in any other way, he even has to have jam with no bits of fruit, that’s how picky he is. Hummus and other dips are made often in our house. We’ve done lots of dry grinding in our blender too. Like I said, the list can go on and on! On most days we use multiple times per day and my husband just keeps saying that VitaMix was our best investment ever!

We love to make strawberry “ice cream” with frozen strawberries.. It’s also great with frozen peaches! Orange julius-type drinks are good, banana milk, almond butter, hummus… well, we use ours a lot! I am sooo glad we took the plunge and got one! πŸ™‚

What a great idea! I got my vita-mix thur your site in September and LOVE it. Although I’m a little sad to admit that about the only I make with it is green smoothies. Which, of course, are great in so many ways, but I know there are so many other things I could be doing with it. I love homemade applesauce, as does my son, and I believe I have a bag of apples sittin’ around that need to be used up!

Are you planning on using yours to make baby food in the near future? πŸ™‚ Also, what tips do you have for getting thicker foods out of the vita-mix (foods that won’t really “pour” out, like hummus, etc)?

Applesauce is so easy to make yourself. I don’t know why people even bother with buying it. Homemade is not only a lot healthier (obviously) but also a lot cheaper. There’s no downside (well you do need to spend some time on that).

My lovely parents were nice enough to buy me a Vitamix for Christmas! My favorite dessert recipe is the “Chunky Monkey”:
    2 frozen bananas
    1/2c regular almond milk
    1 tsp cocoa powder
    1 tbls natural peanut butter

Chunky Monkey smoothies sound awesome! Thanks for the recipe! I am making apple sauce right now with my Vitamix and wondering if I can freeze it as is or do I need to add lemon juice, etc.? Anyone know?

Words to Eat By

"I don't understand why asking people to eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet is considered drastic, while it is medically conservative to cut people open and put them on cholesterol lowering drugs for the rest of their lives." - Dean Ornish, MD
